Production Milling on Eight CNC Mills
CNC milling uses rotating cutting tools to remove material from a workpiece. Traxis mills parts with flat faces, pockets, slots, and bores, using eight CNC mills.
Include critical dimensions and surface-finish requirements on the drawing so the shop can review geometry and setup before quoting.
Key Capabilities
- 3-axis, 4th-axis, and 5-axis work
- All-sides-in-one-fixturing setups
- Precision bores, reaming, tapping, and Helicoil installation
- Engraving, part marking, and press-fit hardware

Our Milling Capabilities
From simple plates to multi-sided parts
3-Axis Milling
Traxis mills pockets, slots, holes, and profiles in brackets, plates, and housings.
- Prismatic parts, pockets, and profiles
- Deck-to-thickness and flatness callouts
- Metals and engineering plastics
4th-Axis & 5-Axis Work
Rotary and tilting-table setups provide access to features on several faces.
- 4th-axis rotary on the Haas VF-5/40
- 5-axis on a Robodrill + Nikken table
- Features on several faces in fewer setups
Multi-Side Fixturing
Traxis uses custom fixtures for parts that need machining on multiple sides.
- All-sides-in-one-fixturing setups
- Custom fixtures built in-house
- Features held true to the drawing from face to face
Materials We Mill
Traxis mills metals and engineering plastics, including these representative grades.
Aluminum
- 6061 and 7075 alloys
- Mic-6 cast plate

Quality Assurance
Traxis checks milled features against the drawing, including specified dimensions and flatness requirements. Identify the critical callouts and documentation you need when requesting a quote.
Checks During Machining
In-process checks verify drawing requirements while the milling run is under way.
Final Inspection
Each job is inspected before shipment, using the drawing as the reference for the finished parts.
First-Article Reports
Request a report with the drawing characteristics and measured results when the order needs that record.
Material Records
Material certifications and full lot traceability can be requested with the milling job.
CNC Milling FAQ
Combined processes, shipped sizes, stock, and drawing requirements
Yes. Traxis reviews parts with both round and prismatic features, including work that combines milled and turned geometry. Mostly cylindrical or shaft-type parts may suit CNC turning with live tooling. The process is chosen from the drawing rather than from the part’s name alone.
Traxis prepares CNC programs in-house using Fusion 360, with posts tuned to its machines. Drawing review during quoting can include design-for-manufacturing feedback when a change would make a part easier or less expensive to produce.
Nine in ten milled parts Traxis shipped over the past three years fit within 19 × 18 × 2 in. That is a record of shipped work, not a maximum capacity. The shipped-size examples include larger plates and baseplates.
Traxis has machined nested parts from 48 × 144 in sheet stock, as well as milled features on ¾–1 in DOM and similar tubing at roughly 30 in long. The sheet dimensions describe the starting stock used for nested work, rather than a single finished part.
For milled parts, provide a STEP model and PDF drawing showing pockets, hole patterns, bores, threads, and critical dimensions. Include the material grade, quantity, and any flatness or surface-finish callouts. Specify press-fit hardware or Helicoil requirements and requested inspection reports, so those operations and documents are included in the review.
Traxis can machine customer-supplied stock and modify existing parts, although the shop normally supplies material. Supplied stock is reviewed for grade, condition, dimensions, quantity, and available certifications before it is sent. Additional setup time may apply. Modification of customer parts is part of the shop’s production work.
For machining a purchased box or chassis, Enclosure Modification covers standard enclosure types and the details needed for that job.
