From Quote Request to Finished Parts

Traxis handles quoting and ordering through its customer portal: submit an RFQ, review the quote, and accept online to place your order.

Start Your Project

$250 minimum order Quotes typically in 1 day Send your company, quantity, and a STEP file + PDF drawing

Getting a part made at Traxis runs in four steps. You send your company, quantity, and a STEP model with a PDF drawing through the customer portal, we review the job and send a quote with pricing and lead time, you accept the quote and submit your PO online, and we machine the parts, give every job final inspection against your drawing, and release them for pickup or your carrier.

Questions about the drawing are answered in the RFQ thread, tied to your files, and your portal account keeps the request, its status, and your invoices in one place.

That whole sequence runs in our Austin, TX shop for customers in 18+ states — see what we machine or learn about the shop.

The Traxis Manufacturing Process

What to send, what we review, and how to place your order.

1

Submit Your RFQ

Submit your RFQ through the Traxis customer portal. The shop reviews the request and replies by email; your account keeps the files, messages, and status together. The FAQ below explains what to include and when to contact the shop about an NDA.

We Accept:

STEP model (.stp, .step) plus a PDF drawing for each part
Other CAD files: welcome alongside them

Review & Quote

Traxis reviews the drawing and prepares a quote. Where a design change would make the part easier or cheaper to make, the shop gives design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering, scheduling, and project correspondence

Traxis lead time is typically 2–4 weeks and is quoted per job. Part complexity, quantity, material availability, and shop capacity affect the schedule. The requested delivery date is reviewed against those factors before a schedule is quoted.

Traxis typically sends quotes within 1 day. The quote includes pricing and a lead time for the job, with drawing questions handled in the RFQ thread.

Traxis needs your company name, quantity, and a STEP model with a PDF drawing for every part. Include material, requested delivery date, and inspection or documentation requirements. Other CAD files are welcome alongside the required pair.

Traxis prices machining work according to material, setup, machining time, tolerances, and inspection needs. Include alternative order quantities if you want to compare price breaks. The minimum order is $250.

Most Traxis orders over the past three years were 2–250 pieces; close to six in ten were 11–250. Recurring runs of 1,000–1,200 pieces go through several times a year, and single releases up to 6,600 pieces have been completed. Prototype support for production customers includes single-part prototypes for corporate customers with production potential.

Traxis gives design-for-manufacturing feedback during quote review when a change could make the part easier or less expensive to machine. Questions about geometry, tolerances, or other drawing requirements are discussed in the RFQ thread. That correspondence stays with the request so you can review the proposed work before accepting the quote.

Customer-supplied stock is an option at Traxis, although the shop normally sources material. Before sending stock, provide the grade, condition, dimensions, quantity, and any available material certifications for review. Note traceability or certification needs in the request so sourcing and documentation are considered together. Additional setup time may apply.

Shipping is arranged for each Traxis order: you can collect the completed parts or use your preferred carrier. Confirm the delivery schedule when placing the order. Every job goes through final inspection before release, and the customer portal provides order status as well as invoices issued after shipment.

Payment terms for a Traxis order are stated on its quote; established customers can be set up with terms. Invoices are issued after the parts ship and can be viewed or downloaded from the customer portal.

Contact Traxis before submitting drawings if an NDA is required, so the agreement can be reviewed first. Use the portal for the RFQ and keep drawing questions in its message thread. Files and project correspondence then remain with the request as you work through the quoted scope.

For part requirements, see materials and supplied stock or tolerances and inspection.
